Territorial Acknowledgement.

Our headquarters sit on the ancestral and unceded traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’gmaw and Peskotomuhkati peoples. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship,” first signed with the British Crown in 1725 and 1726, and we acknowledge the First Peoples of this region as the past, present and future rightsholders and caretakers of this land.

The treaties established 300 years ago did not deal with the surrender of lands and resources but, in fact, recognized Wolastoqiyik, Mi’gmaw and Peskotomuhkati title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing, peaceful and harmonious relationship between nations. We are all Treaty people.
